I bought a whole brake assembly and put them on and now I am having trouble bleeding them, i have read the sticky and that is how I am trying to bleed them but I am not having much luck. I am still not getting any pressure unless I clamp down the line, I try opening to bleeder valve slowly just like it said in the sticky but no luck. Does anyone have any tips?

Have you tried gravity bleeding them first?

Loosen your bleeder screws and fill the reservoir and just let the fluid run through and out the bleeder screws. Pop the little rubber piece out of the bottom of the reservoir or lay a screwdriver in the reservoir so that the end of it will stick down through the rubber piece to hold it open so the fluid can drain better. Once you get a good stream coming out of the bleeders, close them. Make sure you don't let the reservoir get low while it's draining or it will get air back in. Sometimes, it may take a while for the fluid to drain through and sometimes not. Once you gravity bleed them, then you can finish by pumping the lever and holding it while loosening the bleeder.

X2 on what Helmuts suggested ^^ there,or you can go buy you a reverse bleeder that forces clean brake fluid into the system from the bleeder screws forcing all air up,and out of the entire system, but then you hafta clean the fluid in the reservoir if anything else is in the lines,or brake cylinders...:icon_ devil:

Alright thanks. I dont have any air in my brakes anymore, but i am not getting pressure when I squeeze the brake lever, The cylinders are working good but I am not sure if I have them adjusted right? When I drive and then I squeeze the lever I can feel the brakes working a little. Could I still have air in my brakes or is there something else? I just have absolutely no pressure at all. we have bled and bled them but no pressure any ideas?

try this. . . . . remove the fluid resovior cap. . . start at the Left wheel, loosen the bleeder, whle the bleeder is open very slowly squeeze the lever until it bottoms out on the bars. Hold the lever there and tighten the bleeder, now very slowly release the lever and repeat. keep the fluid full too! do that a couple times for each side/ After that fill the resivior stick a slotted screwdriver in the bottom of the resivior into the rubber diaphram gently squeeze the lever and make sure no bubbles come up if not proceed to pumping the lever about 10 or 15 times and hold it on the last pump and loosen the left side bleeder first hold the lever once it collapses and tighten the bleeder do the same for the right keeping the fluid full at all times. This should exhaust all air from the system.

I don't think your brakes are adjusted out far enough. It took me forever to get the front drums on my rancher adjusted because my new pads had to wear into my old drums.I had to adjust them tight then ride it and they turned out ok when I was done but had to adjust after riding.

I got it fixed they weren't adjusted out right. My brakes have good pressure but not super tight. I think the pads are wore out a little but they're still usable. Thanks for your help everyone.

You hafta manually adjust the old brake drum shoes from time to time whenever the master cylinder doesn't feel full,or pulls too far in,or the brakes simply aren't grabbing as well anymore...:icon_ devil:
