I've got quite a bit of seat time on both the Rancher and the Rincon and I would trade in second. The Rincon is 10x the machine the 420 is.

 

I have spent many hours on a rancher it's a great quad but I would think twice trading for a rincon with a tranny and the loss of fuel injection! It's a big thing to think about.

 

It all depends on what you want to do with your machine.

 

I have both a Rancher and a Rincon. Each one can go where the other goes.
Likewise, each has it's strengths and weaknesses (as any machine does). I personally would not trade a 2010 Fuel Injected Rancher for an aged 650 carbureted Rincon.

The Rincon has remained relatively unchanged for more than 12 years. However, the two most significant changes they did make were to increase the engine size (to a 680) and they added Fuel Injection. If you made the trade, you would not get either of those Rincon improvements.

Hang on to your Rancher!

Good decision! You know what you have with your Rancher. It would be a shame to give up your Rancher in exchange for something that is older and may have problems.

 

I agree^^glad to hear you stayed with your 2010 Rancher 420. Even back in 04 the Rincon wasn't near the top for what you could get then. I applaud Honda for trying to keep with being different, but your Rancher is a good machine.

If the ride is what is bothering you I would suggest in investing in a good quality set of aftermarket shocks. Something like Works Performance AT steelers set up for your weight would make that machine night and day different over stock. Expensive,,,yes and no,,its worth it if you rode a machine that was set up like that and you want to keep it long term..You can even put the stockers back on when you wanted to sell it, and sell the shocks to someone else later on. It was my major complaint on my 420,,,it rode rough! Other than that it was a good atv. I still miss the feel of a gear quad sometimes. Just put it in 3rd and cruise is what I did most of the time.
