Rincon Reverse Gear Problems?

Hi Everyone,

Could anyone out there tell me if Honda had some kind of problems with the reverse gear in their Rincons?

I have a two 2004 Immaculate Rincon 650's and one of them has started two grind when I put them in reverse. They never were consistent with the ease of putting them in gear, forward or reverse, they always went in with a slight bang and sometimes would jump out of gear going up a grade because they were not fully in knuckled in gear to begin with. I don't think the dealer really went over them too good when we purchased them.

I know that there is an adjustment cable but I have read once they start to grind, the damage is already done to the gear and the adjustment will not help.

I have been hearing a lot about the Reverse gear being the problem.

Thanks

R.B.

Hi! I got an 07 Rincon with the same problem. It grinded when putting it in reverse only since I bought it and then gradually got worse. I fixed it by replacing the two reverse gears in the sub-transmission. The gears where rounded out in the corners. Now it goes in like nothing. I also read that adjusting the cable could be the problem. I would try adjusting that cable first. It's really touchy. If that don't work, then it's in the transmission. Hope this help's.

I have an appointment to take my two Rincons to the Honda Dealer on the May 25th to have them gone over and check on the grinding. I hope that it is only the cable adjustment and not the reverse gears.

I asked the dealer if this was a problem with the Rincons but he said not that he is aware of.

No dealer at any stealership will ever admit to there being any problems with any vehicle,or model that they sell..They can't admit it,it would go against their nature of lying as well as they will get in trouble with the manufacturer for letting the cat out of the bag, possibly costing them sales,as well as financially costing them all that warranty work/repairs/parts as well as smudging their reputation...

I think our two, 2004 Rincons, have just broken 1K miles each and basically they are run through farm fields and have never seen mud or rocks. Yes, they are well pampered. Thats why I am having a hard time figuring out why the reverse gears could be bad unless it is a flaw in the Rincons.

They are used in the winter time for plowing but they are not beat in anyway and they are always shifted from forward to reverse while at a complete stop, with the throtle down to an idle.

I hope they hold up as well as yours.

05 Rincon gear grinding

I have an '05 Rincon that hasn't ran well since I bought it new! Doesn't start, drains batteries, bogs down in mud or water, and gears grinding forward and reverse!! I've taken this machin in with same problems every time and they havn't fixed it yet! The grinding is worse than ever! They said they adjusted the cable and to keep riding it!! If there is a design problem with the Rincon I feel they owe me whatever it takes to fix it!! I'm ready to park it through their front window!! Heartly Honda, Wasilla, Alaska!! Are these guys jerking me around? And are the guys in Anchorage any better? Rite now I don't plan to ever buy another Honda..

I have the same problem, seems if u yank it into reverse or ram it in drive it seems to help the grinding, try putting some elbow in it, trust me it helps
