I need a bit of help, purchased a 2014 honda fourtrax dct 420, across from the shifter motor, there is a something that i think might be a sensor but i could be wrong but it uses a one 10mm bolt and it has somewhat the same connector as the shifter motor does, its a brown connector, searching a lot for it but i don't seem to find a name for it, would gladly appreciate it if anyone can help me on what it is as I broke they one i had.

welcome to the forums. have not looked your model up, but if I had to guess, i'd say you broke the speed sensor :).

One of them is a 620, yours would be a 630.

Depends on which one this is unless they are both the same anyway. # 14 & 15.

I think its the same so far, already ordered off ebay anyways so i'll just hope luck is on my side and that it works, same color connector and also the same size, I don't see a difference to the one I have, I would have gone for another one made for a rincon but it was a bit bend and seemed a little much bigger and also a lot different, but again, I hope luck is on my side, Thanks for the help everyone!

i took motor apart, every time i got it tight when i put it back together, it was binding. i could see wear on the inside that should not have been there. i got an e-bay one that is working so far. i got to learn more about proper grease for different areas. one grease definitely does not fit all. i already knew that, just not enough.
my e-pray shifter motor is in the way out. made in china. should have payed more attention about original parts, made in japan. lesson learned the wallet way. the school, of hard knocks, is the only school, is the only school where you start paying attention. //Ed ;~}
it almost made a year...
can't even count how many times I keep saying...DONT BUY CHINA CHIT !..LMAO.
i took the shift motor unit out. water had got to one of the bearings. the motor shaft itself [the gear with the rotor] is harder to turn than the new one. someone did not replace the o-ring that go's with the angle sensor because it still looked good. [you cant cheat on these honda's] the shift motor unit from taiwan may have lasted a bit longer, then a year. i still wont buy form china anymore, if i can help it. china dont care if its quality, if something fails, then, you got to buy another one. same with shoes. china shoes, when they fail, then you buy another pair from china.
Quality over Quantity, is a lost concept. //Ed

Hi, new to the forums here. I have a 2007 Honda rancher 420 es, and when shifting from 2-3 I have to press the button two to three times to get it to shift. It has no other issues in any other gears its just 2-3. Any ideas on how to resolve this annoying issue?

Did you adjust clutch and take off shift motor and give it some new grease?

Hi: You don't take the shift motor apart --- you remove the cover where the shift motor went into and clean out the old grease --- put white lithium grease on them gears --- also if you removed the spindle gear it has to aligned with the shift shaft.

Is there a gasket there that needs to be replaced once i take the cover off?

I find my 420 won't let me downshift 3-2 until my speed is greatly reduced. If it was footshift I would make the shift...... maybe the computer is telling you something lol. Not saying this is your issue, definitely take the front cover off and clean inspect and regreased with a lithium based grease. A good cleaning goes along way, I have changed the gears inside as well as there were very cheap. I believe I have all the bugs worked out with my es and do enjoy this feature as when working around the property I tend to ride sidesaddle. Hope you find your issue.
