Reverse cable permanently pulled - side effect?

I was wondering if there might be any side effects if someone was to adjust the reverse cable tight so you don't have to manually pull it to select reverse (01 - 350ES).

I have a snow plow in the winter and it would sure be quicker to have that cable pulled permanently when all you do is go back and forth :)

the biggest deal with it as above would be accideltny putting it in reverse while moving forward, and bossibly doing damages that can costs a BUNCH to repair
tons of folks have done this mod in a few different ways and been happy
ME< I don't see it being that big a deal to push the button down??
as I some times let the kids drive it and others that ain't that used to how things work
and would worry more about them doing damage's than say me using it!
so mine stays OEM
a couple seconds to work it as is, isn't worth the risk of a big repair bill!
my 2 cents LOL

did it to my 07 420 no side effects after 7 years. Can't imagine plowing snow using the stupid red button, and it would be pretty hard mistakingly shifting to reverse when going forward = it would be a 2 gear mistake, shifting to neutral and then to reverse. I haven't done it and I'm as absentminded as the best of them

I could see it being a big issue if you had something with a clutch, but I can never drop more then one gear at a time while moving on my bike. I ran mine that way for a year, until I was given a new cable. I didn't have a problem once, but I do have an electric shift bike.

If I were plowing, I would disable it again no question. After all, it's easy to undo if you do feel you want the button on the trail.

It would be pretty hard to get from first to reverse accidentally. You would accidentally shift into neutral and then accidentally shift into reverse.Never happen.

Picked up my Foreman for plowing and that was one of the first things I did to it.Less than a minute to do with a zip tie.
