Well my ole 250ex needs some axle bearings. Before going through the sevice manual, I thought I would ask if you guys have some tips/tricks. I have the kit, which includes 3 bearings, 5 seals and one o-ring. It looks like I have to pull the axle, then drop gear box. IDK, any advice will be appreciated. BTW the kit was $69.00 isn't that a little high even at the honda dealer

for lsr bearings for my 300ex were $85 for just 2 bearings and 2 seals

I've replaced an axle in a 250ex but not the bearings.
It wasn't very hard. I believe it pushed from the left out to the right. I undid the bolts that hold the brake plate to the "differential" and banged on the left side with a rubber mallet and the whole part came out.
I would get the manual and check it out before and during the process.
Good luck.

Sounds like you're on the right track. Remove the axle, unbolt and remove the diff and split the diff case. Then knock the old bearings and seals out and install the new ones. Shouldn't be too bad if you're not changing the pinion bearings.

No, Hondabond sealant is used instead of a gasket.

Well, I got axle bearings and seals in and everything back together.(I think) I mentioned earlier that my bearing kit had 3 bearings, 5 seals and one o-ring. This kit also fits other bikes. I am left with 2 seals and 1 o-ring. On the left side I have a double row of bearings and one seal, between gearbox and brake drum I have 1 seal, then in brake cover plate I have 1 bearing and one seal. I did not replace anything in gearbox. I did take the gearbox down and broke it apart, everything looked good. The seals in the box must be good, because after I pulled the axle, I almost had a panic attack
Can someone confirm that I got this right, or gotta do it again

There's a bearing and seal on each side of the ring gear and there's a bearing and seal in the brake drum cover. This doesn't include the bearing and seal in the end of the axle tube on the left side of the axle. The o-ring is supposed to go on the axle. In your pic, I can see the old one between the brake drum and the splines.

The o-ring you see is the way it came out, there's another at brake drum cover between collar and locknuts.
Brake cover
bearing
seal
collar
o-ring
two washers
locknuts
the gear box was clean inside, I did not replace any seals or bearings in box. My kit did not include this, but I did have 2 seals left over. I am wondering if they go with the ricon since the kit is for other bikes as well

The Recon rear end/diff/axle is the exact same thing as the 250EX.

I have fully replaced all seals and bearing as well as the axle

there is a very very helpful video on how to replace all bearings and seals here

this is part 3 parts 1 and 2 have to do with removal of old bearings and seals and part 4 has to do with replacing some other seals i would say that the only thing that he does not discuss is the double bearings that are to the left of the diff that hold the axle those are very difficult to take out you should use a sledge hammer with a 1 7/8 socket with a breaker bar to knock those out and the link to all the new seals is here
