What makes you think it needs replaced? If it’s not cracked I don’t see why I couldn’t be cleaned and reused

Edit:Now I see the small chips on the bottom left. I think there’s enough meat there it should be ok. If it was mine, I’d reuse it

I tried to circle some of the chips. I’m just not sure how important those pieces are.

 

This is a 2008? How many miles? I guess if it was mine I would have cleaned all the crud off and sprayed witj Liquid Wrench before hand. I am planning on doing my 2006, I hope its not this bad?

I would replace the aluminum plate, it's 65 dollars new and it's looks like you a new bearing with it and dust seal that you should replace anyways, there is a oring that goes around the part where you have chips that seals up with drum when it goes back on. Someone must have put some kind of sealer or gasket maker on there that doesn't need to be on there.

 

Probably a footshift, which don't have a display.

Normally I'd say use it, but if you can get a new backing plate that cheap, I'd definitely go new.

 

Yes it is a footshift, it didn't come with a display from the factory. I just ordered the backing plate. I'd like to get it done right this time and not have to take it off again. $65 wasn't too bad.

 

I took off the backplate and tried to put on the new one but it isn’t going through. I am wondering if I need to compress that sheet metal somehow. This is a much bigger job than I anticipated.

 

I’m hoping these pictures can help show the problem.

 

loosen the axle tubbing from the differential by backing the nuts off some, this will give you some wiggle room to align the brake hole side .

pull axle to left side, your axle is too far to the right. you may need to tighten the jam nuts on axle on left side.
