I have a 2001 Honda Rancher TRX 350 4X4 ES and can't get the gas to shut off and it runs into the carbureter and leaks onto the ground. Is this supposed to do this? Any answer would be appreciated

Just fixed my buddies 2001 trx350 4x4 and his was doing the same thing. You might want to check the carb as well the float might be sticking and coming out of the overflow.
I did a rebuild on his carb and fixed it right up. His was so bad that he had to leave the petcock in the almost closed position when riding or fuel just kept dripping out of the over flow. Now he can leave it wide open and no problems when riding or sitting.
I might have misinterpreted the post , " can't shut off the fuel " makes me think the petcock isn't working , maybe it is more like the carb is overflowing after stopping the engine , maybe both
