So there's no shims or anything? Just take it apart replace bearing and put it back together?
there is 1 shim on each side of the ring gear when you split the differential..make sure you install them back on the same side !!!..very important.

If you open the diff with it on it's side the shims shouldn't fall out.
that's gonna be one messy job if he tries to open it up on its side ??..I highly say..lay it down with bolt cover up..then pry it off..this way..both shims will mostly stay put. if he tries to open it up on it's side..he'll loose a crap loud of gear oil...that is...if any is left in it ??..lol.

I got the new axle in today but I'm leaving for a hog hunting trip tomorrow. When I get back I'm gonna put the rear end back together and put her up for a while till I can find some more money. With the cost of the top end build and now the whole rear end I'm out of $$$$.

Ya I hear ya. It's just a quad for hunting but I wanna make sure it's right.
I'm gonna do all new rear diff bearings and seals and all new axle bearings and seals as well as getting a used but good brake plate and drum from dak.

for the most part..the differental has all the seals and bearings in it, and the rear brakes backing plate has the other bearing and seals in it..thats all there is too the rear end. you can get a kit for the differential, and a kit for the backing plate..these parts will solve the rear end for bearings and seals..then yu'll have to deal with the front end. keep in mind..the front end is ALMOST the same set up as the rear differential..but not quite the same !. you still have large bearings for the sides..or ring gear ..then have oil seals for the outter case for the drive axles..thats all there is to that. then you will need bearings and seals for the spindles..thats pretty much it.

oh..and you will need a seal for the metal brake drum cover..they are cheap.
