I acquired this "rare" atv for the low price of $100, runs well but has some minor issues. It slowly leaks fuel out of the petcock and the previous owner tried to just cover the whole thing in gasket sealer (idiot). Before I remove the valve I looked up a replacement for it and to my surprise - they stopped manufacturing it. Does anyone know of a replacement that would fit and work in this gas tank? I am considering trying to repair this petcock but i'd prefer to replace it.

thanks!

edit: I was told this was a fourtrax type II which is why i submitted the thread here. Also the original part number is 16950-HF1-670

Hmmm. I drilled out the rivets on a 420 petcock, and then used small 6mm bolts to put it back together. Once I got it opened up I cleaned it out, and it sounds like you need new seals in it.

Worst case scenario, you open it up and find you can't fix it. Best case, you slap a new oring in there and it works.

Ebay is probably your best bet, or see if you have any local FB ATV trading pages where people are parting out ATV's

I was going to say go on eBay and find one of the China knockoffs for around $15 but it looks like your 200D is an oddball and they don't make a replacement for it. Only 90-97 200/200D used that petcock.

If you know the thread size of the nut that screws in to the bottom of the tank you can search for "16950 petcock" and there are a few motorcycles that used single bolt screw in petcocks, The vt600 used almost an identical one with a screw on extension handle. Good luck in your search

Jack....unfortunately I have the same problem with my 1997 Honda TRX200D. I have searched everywhere online for a petcock (even overseas!!) but to no avail. I will try your out of the box suggestion of a cheap Chinese petcock made for Chinese generators ($6.50) from Amazon. Let me know if you were able to fix the one you have.

I am going to try and simply go to ACE Hardware and replace the gasket for the fuel bowl (bottom of petcock) and see if that works. You would think Honda would still sell these or at least China would sell the knock offs.

I guess Honda makes ATV's that last forever until you can't find a replacement part.
