one other thing, the trx 300 crankshaft turns backwards compared to the trx300ex crankshaft, so converting the trx300 motor to chain drive may give you 5 reverse gears lol.

i remember highlifter offering a "backwards cam" (intake and exhaust lobes on opposite sides) for people putting trx300ex top ends on trx300fw bottom ends years ago, not sure if they still offer them. this was the reason behind needing the custom cam was different crankshaft direction rotation.

Megacycle will build reverse grind cams. I had this done for my 300 with a 350D top end, as the 350D also spins the opposite direction.

Shouldn't be too bad to put it back together. The whole top end could be replaced fairly easily, good time to throw a 330cc cylinder and piston on it or something for a bit more oopmh.
