are you absolutely sure it's smoke? this fall i thought i was having the same problem and was fearing for my piston rings or valve seals but it was a humid/rainy morning and i quickly realized it was only water vapor that i thought was the smoke!! lol sometimes you have to think of the most obvious before you get yourself all worked up over potentially nothing...

^^ Not good revving one cold my uncle did that last year when when he said I'm gonna barrow ur wheeler I need to go see about the cattle, started up and popped it once and took off hard in first gear and I can hear him from the house half way up the hollow. What makes it worse is I got an almost worn out timing chain. Just starting to make a bit of noise but still.

yep revving and running a engine cold is never ever good. your just asking for problems...

Jdp.. i had a friend do the same thing to me once.. i was so upset after that. i dont let anyone besides family use my quad and they all understand how to because i stress so much when other people use it!!!
I know right, but I got an almost worn timing chain too. :(

letting a engine idele too is NOT good for a motor either, there made to have a load on them, its better to start let idle a minute or so and go, JUST go easy till its up to operating temp
just sitting idle is BAD to be honest.
its also why good syn oil is a better idea, as it flows beter cold!
