I was at the shop today and confused my engine (it's being rebuilt) with a XR 350r that was lying around. One thing led to another, we started measuring comparing engines sizes. Bottom line is, size wise swap is possible. I'm going to weigh both to see how much stress will be on my chasis. Am I Crazy? Is it possible? Tips?

That would be cool.Making 27 horsepower would be great too.

Swap is coming along rather easily, Rear mount is exactly the same, which makes the sprocket aligned. Front mounts will need adapting. My only worry is the kickstart.. Its counter clock wise! haven't tried it with the fenders on yet, it will probably require some cutting... Here is a pict. of the engine...

That will be a cool swap but i doubt the kicker will work unless you can figure out how to get past the fenders, but a good amout of power increase with that swap. Good Luck.

Yep, the only thing that keeps me going is the jump from 16 HP to 30 HP! The engine is actually one from a Honda XLX 350 R (not sure it was sold in the states, but it is as popular as soccer in south america!) Here are the specs:

Engine: 4-stroke 1 cylinder OHC, RFVC (Radial Four Valve Combustion Chamber), oil radiator

Carburator: Keihin de 34 mm de venturi

339 cm³

30 HP a 7.500 rpm

Max Torque: 3 kgfm a 6.500 rpm

bore and stroke: 84 x 61,3 mm

Compression: 8,9:1

Transmision: 6 speed, oil dipped multidisc clutch

I've got it for about 100 U$

With 27HP you will basically have a 400ex. as far as HP. That 6th gear will be fun.
Agreed^^^^^ 6th gear Long legs for running...lol

Deal went south, engine had too many skeletons in its closet. I'm sticking to my littlo 250... :(
Actually, I've got an offer for a 350x ATC good and running, in really nice shape. He wants 1000 U$ for it. I'm thinking of using it as a donor (engine and swing arm+shock) for my 250x. Do you guys think it is worth it? I have the option of a 400EX put for twice as much. How does a 350x/250x conversion fare against a 400EX?

I've heard that the conversion is pretty potent. They do make stroker kits and that for the 350x engine that make it like 430 cc's or something.
