2008 rancher 420 won't down shift. but will up shift. It has power going to and leaving the down shift button, but no down shift?

I would start with the easy stuff, check wires, fuses and make sure the battery has a full charge and putting out the correct voltage. As you may know, these units are extremely sensitive to battery charge.
