I’ve never had to ask for help, but here I go. I took Motor & wiring off a 01 350 Rancher TM & put in Model T go cart. Like the ones at Six Flags. I have repair manual & have triple checked everything. Have no spark. I replace pick up above stater today & had spark for about 8 revolutions. Then nothing. Fan is wired up correct & it comes on with switch instead of oil temp sensor. Could ICM be shorted out causing Ignitor to fail & fan to come on? I’m not using original start switch or headlight, taillight wiring. I do have kill switch hooked up but would like to take it out. Switch oms out fine. I’m stumped!

Red main, pink ignition & black fan wires hooked to switch. I do have one green with red tracer wire that went to start relay unhooked. Using relay on gocart. That wire does show to be grounded. It’s tied into gear position switch that works. Motor turns over just fine. No spark.

Sorry I don’t have the manual or wiring diagram on this one here—I opened from this site . Chapter 18

Is the exciter (pickup) coil still good you think?

I looked at the wiring diagram—do you have a peak voltage feature on you meter?

Has to be able to detect 100 V peak at coil

Do you have the fan wired through the ignition switch? If so, try removing that to a separate switch... or move it onto the accessory B+ half of the switch. The minimum requirements for ignition wiring is shown in the attachment. Make sure that all components share the same motor/frame grounds.
