It was a chore but I have the winch mounted! Superwinch 3000...
Wiring it up now, trying to decide where to mount the solenoid... back by the battery and airfilter look the best but don't see any great spots to mount it.... anyone do this before? Have any suggestions? Hung up at this point, gonna sleep on it! Suggestions welcome!

Also there is a red wire off the toggle switch that is supposed to get tied in with the ATV main switch... I understand what it does and how it all works but have no idea where to find the wire...
The instructions says it is a brown/blue wire... looking at the wiring diagram for my ATV I think I should be looking for a pink or a pink/white wire. Whatever color don't l know where to find it, close but not where I can splice the red one in! Help!
Thanks

Hey mark great questions

I mounted my contactor on the back wall of the dry box. As high as I could keeping in mind you have to get the nuts on the backs of the mounting bolts. I can give you precise measurements if you want. I drilled a hole Not quite 1 inch in diameter for the cables. I wrapped them in tape to prevent chafing of the hole cuts–I need to go back and shrink wrap and seal the hole.

The red wire powers the switching circuit; yes you can go into the cable bundle or wire directly to the Honda special accessory plug. I spliced into the accessory circuit (pink wire leading to the plug) so I could use that plugin for my accessories. It’s a 10A circuit i think so should operate a small spotlight and your winch control circuit

Thanks for the fast reply!
Didn't see it until late today as it didn't notify me after you replied, thinking I have that fixed... just a setup issue (new user).

Anyways great info THANKS! Pics are great... I just have junk in my dry box so that will work great and I will still have some room in there. I have some bushings to protect wires from rigging my boat will need to dig those out to see if they'll work.

I thought about wiring thru the accessory plug but I can't find mine... had big plans to use it when I bought my machine but now can't find it... must have put it in a really safe place! Any idea where I can buy another? I've been searching eBay and amazon no luck so far!
Thanks again for all your help!

Good. Do you still have the fender off? It’s easier to run the cables and wires with it off—fuel tank too.

The fuel tank is easy to take off—one bolt—but who hasn’t forgotten to unsnap that rear fender from the tank??? EASY to break that rear fender.

Ok the 2 accessory power wires are green and pink. Pink is hot. You have to unbolt the harness cover—it’s forward of the fuel tank and steering column.

Make a Y splice wire some wire and bullet connectors so that you can plug the red winch wire into the accessory circuit. I used 18 gauge pink wire i cut from some old ignition switches

Project got way dragged out! Been cold and I hate cold, and everytime I tried to start on it again something came up, need bolts whatever!
Last night got the idea just to get it wired up and tape the wires down wherever I could... had a plastic food storage box I mounted the solenoid in, taped it down on the rear rack... massaged the wires out of the way and between duct tape and tywraps got 'er done!
Couldn't get power out of the acc plug so just tapped into a wire in back I use to charge the battery if needed. Decided a switch would be good so I added that, other than for plowing don't expect to use it much... Snow is in the forecast so I am ready! Got the plow put on at attached to the winch, this is gonna be great! I also had just disabled the Reverse button, I hated that thing! So nice just to click down into reverse! Yes I know I have to be careful! All I know plowing is going to be much easier this year!
Again thanks for all the help and pics attached, with and without seat and of the switch. When it's warmer I'll fix up the wiring and get the solenoid relocated into the drybox… At least for now done playing in the garage for the winter!

All of that wiring came with the winch... I think they err on the long side for the cables...
will see very little of it when I do the permanent routing/install. Will fill up my drybox though!

They also supplied a remote (hardwired w/plug) but don't plan on using that at first. That's even more wire!

I like the switch, I need to find a permanent one, that was the only add...

Best part, along with disabling the reverse button, having the winch to raise/lower the plow is awesome, so much easier to plow!
