I have a 99 400ex and was wondering if I could put the newer year plastics on it

I believe the '99-'04 plastics are the same and the '05-up are the same.

I did a quick search and found this:

"Putting the new style plastics on a 99-04 is as easy as using the two front under brackets from an 05-09 400EX. All the other brackets from the old bodywork line up."

The newest model 400X will also fit with the proper brackets.

I forgot to add that I wanted to go with maier plastics. When changing from oem to maier will I have to mod anything even if it's for my year atv or a newer year

Maier are made to fit like stock so it should be ok
