So i was putting a new set of rims and tires on my 89 trx 350 i noticed the FR had excessive play on the axle stand, is this normal? Also when i push it in neutral when ever i turn the atv it gets harder to push and there is a very obvious clicking sound.

I would guess cv axle. Also check ball joints and wheel bearings while you are at it.

I had the same thing on my TRX300FW, ball joint. I sort of have the "while I'm at it" bug and decided to replace both CV axles as a kit gotten from East Lake Axles.
