Not on a daily basis, but numerous time I've pulled our little trailer with my Rancher. It's 6'x10' or so I'd guess. Rancher pulls it fine and I usually just load it up with brush to haul off when we do some tree trimming.

over the yrs I have pulled all sorts iof trailers, and even hay wagons?
the main thing to ask yourself is what do you NEED to move and what is the terrain like you THINK you will use it on!
on level ground an average ATV can move a pretty heavy load, but get into hills and you can be quickly under weight on the atv and the braking power of it, the trailer can push you or STOP you or pull you backwards pending the weight fo trailer and slope?

at hunting camp, we have loaded a 6'x16 'trailer with all the wood it could hold, Well past trailers rating, and atv's rating, but its all level where we do this, never an issue?
have towed trailers with several hundreds of gallons of water on it tanks, spraying tree's for 5-6 hrs at a time, again, level ground?/ and solid ground at that

if things got muddy, even slight hills with a few thousand lbs behind the atv it can get stuck

your atv's brakes and weight and gearing(big tires rob HP don't forget and alter gearing) will be your limit setter, along with how hilly or flat your area is !

here is a smaller trailer I have, it has very high ground clearance, and have loaded it up well past a ton countless times

also, keep in mind, you want to have the trailer coupler LEVEL as can be with your hitch, too much tongue weight or too little can be a issue and beat your atv's rear end/axles .frame up on you!

There is a trailer set up that I would really like to built and have , it is tandem axle'ed and the axle are attached to a triangle looking plate by a shaft right in the middle , if a tire hits a bank , ledge , root and can't go up and over , then the triangle plate flips and the rear axle rotates around and becomes the front axle , really cool off road set up , and it looks really easy to build , the vide on is on u-tube showing the building and test run of it ----I am going to see if I can find the video

I took a look for the flipping /rotating axle trailer and didn't find it yet , but found a couple of interesting designs

nice one :

this is a nice set up , no flip , the flipper one is basically the same except the pivot bolt allows the 360 degree rotation :

I use my atv's to pull my 5x10 utility trailer, my 14ft boat, my jet ski. just about anything that rolls, i'll pull it. mrb made some very good points on pulling trailers ^^^^, its not all about what size ?, it's how and where, and weight is what you need to worry about !, and stopping !!. common sense goes a long ways when it comes to pulling trailers with our atvs.

I agree with @shadetree

Your only concern should be stopping the trailer, pulling it is easy, stopping it at the end of your journey or in an emergency situation is a different story all together lol.

We tow a 5x6 light duty trailer at work piled up with muck, I'd be guessing but I'd say around 1/2 a ton would be the average weight of each load. My 300 and bosses 420 tow and stop that with ease around the yard. I've taken the same load up to our 'fire pit' during the winter which is up a 45 to 50 degree muddy rutted incline, I had to give it a bit of gas but it got up there easily enough.
Don't think I'd fancy towing much more than 3/4 of a ton, to me that would be the absolute maximum.

I do. This trailer was heavy, but not too heavy. I used it to deliver a lawn mower. Mostly flat-ish surfaces. The only problem was the location of the jack, too close to my rear tail light. Kept rubbing/touching/scuffing the storage compartment.

Creed82. It is nice to see someone get so much enjoyment/use out of a unit, especially the range of things you do. Do continue to enjoy and love those videos?
Thanks! And yes, I do. I generally post 1-2 videos per week on my Youtube channel, "nevertoooldtohavefun".
