I just bought a Honda Recon 250cc, Im not sure what year it is, most likely between 1994 and 2004. I just replaced the battery and it was running well until it started making white smoke out of the tail pipe. Ive read that it might be the valves or something but I wanted more opinions. I believe its buring oil. I was also wondering how much a valve repair or replacement would run me... any ideas???

Hello and welcome to the forums. Is your recon a water cooled engine? If so and the smoke is a wispy bright white it could be a coolant leak in the head. If it is a blueish white it could be oil getting around bad valve seats or getting in the combustion chamber because of bad rings.

Welcome to the forums. I don't think the Recon is water cooled, but I agree with Sub, also.

the recon is the same engine as the 250EX it just has a pull start option. does the exhaust have a oily or fuel odor? is it only at Idle or when you rev it?
