Can anyone recommend a decent winch that doesn't cost as much as their machine?
Any brands out there that have let you down before?
What's the best bang for the buck.

I'm shopping around and find some price tags a bit rude!!:icon_ cry:

LOL yes thats never fun, I don't have a winch either I usually just enlist the help of my wife and my truck when I get stuck bad enough that I can't push it out. But someday I hope to have a winch it would be SO handy.

i was out on the power lines by myself, not to mention i messed up my idle screw so if i let off the gas it stalls, the battery is dead so i have to kick start it, it does not like to kick start when its sideways down in a rut so i had to pull it up to where it was flat. spent 30 mins pulling and trying to kick start the thing. and it wasent even muddy, just some deep ruts that i would stall in and screw myself over.

a winch would have saved my life big time.

LOL For the lazy people though (like myself) thats not going to get the job done. The first name I think of when someone says winch is WARN. Although I'm sure they are probably a bit pricy.

Here is one that I would consider a decent price..

Cabela's -- Superwinch LT2000 ATV Winch
actually, thats not a bad price at all considering you really wont use it that much.. i take my cumb along back to the shed and hello cabellas!! :icon_ goofy:.. one can assume you cannot mount this on a factory front in on like a um 98 300 4trax 4x4?

Well I'm definitely going with a winch. It's just a matter of what kind and how much.
I'll be shopping around no doubt....cause they do get pricey!
Yeah, Warn would be my first pick, but they are probably going to be pretty expensive. The SuperWinch posted above in the Cabelas ad seems like a decent winch for a decent price.

I also found a good deal on a Super Winch. Next question: Are the winch brackets universal? Do they accommodate all types of winches?
