I agree with you there Fish. I've come to the conclusion that most of the internet sales companies are selling Chinese 'junk' at the same price or more as a branded part just to stay competitive online.
The two companies I've found both types of bearing with are bearing manufacturers so I'll give them a try and see how they hold out.

What type of bearing to Honda fit from the factory, taper roller or ball bearing?

I'm 99% sure that the factory bearings are ball bearings, most aftermarket are tapered roller bearings....

Definitely can spread the frame, maybe that's why aftermarket are tapered rollers, they can take the side load better than roller bearings.
