I agree with you there Fish. I've come to the conclusion that most of the internet sales companies are selling Chinese 'junk' at the same price or more as a branded part just to stay competitive online.
The two companies I've found both types of bearing with are bearing manufacturers so I'll give them a try and see how they hold out.

What type of bearing to Honda fit from the factory, taper roller or ball bearing?
either one will work, the ID and OD does not change, all they change it the way the bearing is made, that's it.

I'm 99% sure that the factory bearings are ball bearings, most aftermarket are tapered roller bearings....

your 100% correct, oem swing arm bearings are ball bearings, after market are tapered.

I never worry about the lock nut on the swing arm bearing for the right rear side when removing the bolt ?, I just unscrew the bolt, most times they come out no prob. if you start on the left rear side first ?, the right rear side will only go so far before you feel it bottom out, then you tighten down the lock nut if you need to ?. nothing a punch and hammer can't handle..lol.

and you will need a 17mm allen wrench, bought mine at sears awhile back, about 10 bucks.

Thanks shadetree, if something is usually a bit stubborn I get it warm with the blow torch, bit of heat always does the trick :) or as you say, a good old hammer lol.
I'll try good 'ole eBay for an Allen key.

Thanks everybody ;-)
don't need heat, a 17mm allen wrench, and a 3ft cheater pipe is all I use, I break them loose every time :). oh, and your welcome. you can get the 17mm allen wrench at harbor freight if you shop there ?. as I said, bought mine at sears awhile back.

Just dont tighten it too much. Tends to 'spread' things out a little .
ummmmm..wanna explain this ^^^ ?. I've dealt with a ton of swing arm bearings, from seized to having to drill through the swing arm to knock the other side out, and ive not once seen where they spread the frame out ??. no way for the swing arm bolts to push the frame apart ?, as there is nothing behind/in/around the bolt area to push against, cept that little ole tin plate that's behind the bearing ?, what will force the bolts to push on ??, or am I missing something here ?. the swing arm is hollow where the bearings ride bro :).

I agree with over tightening does push the frame , you can see happen it if you watch it close and over tighten it -------- I tighten the left side to 83 lbs , and then the right side adjuster to 36 in lbs which is 3 ft lbs ( practically nothing ) , and the jam nut of the adjuster to 83 ft lbs ------if you over tighten the adjuster you can cause damage to the bearing
I will agree, you can damage the bearing if you over tighten the bolt, but I don't see how it can spread the frame ?. I guess I don't go to town to hard when I tighten my swing arms ?..lol.

it doesn't even take too much pressure to move the frame --------------------- screw force is a pretty powerful thing , let me demonstrate it by tightening up on the vise with your finger in it , the opposite direction of movement but the same force
well, now that I think more on this, it is posb to spread the frame ?, but !, as you said, you will damage the bearings, because that bolt will be pushing on them, and they will stop on the back side of them, sooo yeah, it will spread the frame, but deff damage the bearings in the process !!!.

Wow.. This got to be quite 'in depth'! Lol.

So, would you guys opt for taper roller or ball bearing? I'd have never thought about the frame spreading in all honesty.
Don't worry though guys, when I mentioned the 1/2 inch socket Allen key that was to undo the nut, not refit, it looks like it's not going to come of without a fight!
great advice Fish with the torque settings, thank you.
does not matter which bearing you buy, they are both good. that bearing does not make a 360 degree turn like most bearings ?, it moves very little. as for yours not budging ?, like I said, a cheater pipe, 17 allen wrench, and I pop them loose all the time, no heat needed, EVER !.

worse case ?, the swing arm bolt could and can seize to the bearing race ?, if this is the case ?, well...HAVE FUN GETTING IT OUT !..LMFAO. that crap sucks big time !..lol. it can come loose though, it's a royal pain in the rear..period !..lol.

Haha.. 'a royal pain'!! Made me chuckle that did shady

Well I haven't taken it apart as yet Dad, it's just got that 'look', you know the one where you think, hmmm, this could be a bummer of a job!

What's caused it is steam cleaning the damn thing, don't think it's ever been washed so many times in its life haha.
Was held together by mud I think and now I'm finding myself changing a bearing after every outing! Nearly changed them all so should be grand soon :)
lol, anytime bro :). I've had my share of seized swing arm bearings !, it sucks I tell ya !..lol. nothing will get it out cept a BFH, and a chisel, and there is no room what so ever to work with when this takes place !..lol. you have to pray at least one side comes out/off, in order to get room on the other side to beat the living crap outta it !..lol.
