Just got finished with a engine tear down/rebuild on my 07 with 7,000! miles. All parts were in really great condition, no signs of metal or sludge inside.
All parts had oil clinging to them and I did have oil in head when tearing down.
I failed to take apart oil pump to check clearances.

Engine is still on bench, should I pull front cover back off and put a new pump in?

I wouldn’t think you would need a pump replacement but not a terrible idea. Since i have not done this before you should refer to your service manual. I think you need to check clearances
Bump for others who have experience with pump.

Yes, I ended up ordering a new Honda pump, since the shift arm for the ES motor had also worn the splines off the gear shaft!

So another $170, and we should be good to go!

And.......the rear end had gear fluid in the brake drum! So pulled the entire rear axle and will get to replace those seals as well. Fun!
