The temp light has never come on, but when I am riding hard in the desert and my quad gets hot it wont rev. I get no high RPM. I don't ride mud so the radiator is clean. The oil is change regularly. The filter is clean. After it cools it will rev again and run great until hot, then no more high RPM. Why is this happening? How can I fix it? Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the forums. It might also be fuel pump or fuel filter problems.

i doubt it helmut..if it was fuel related..it wouldn't run very good even when it's cold..now..i know i'm probally gonna hear you say it anyway..buttttt..your gonna tell me this is fuel injected..aren't ya ??..lol.i can tell you this..this is after i found out what that little round thing is on the bottom of my 2000 350 rancher's carb ( for air temp..or something like that )..i wonder if that has anything to shutting his atv off ?

Yeah, it's fuel injected, so it don't have the carb or carb heater that you're talking about.

Yes fuel injected

I hope I didn't put the filter in backwards after as many as I have done, but it wouldn't be the first stupid thing this hillbilly has done. I will check the filter and the oil temp sensor. I guess I ruled out fuel problems because I'll take on several rides without a problem. It only happens when I ride really hard and it gets hot. Thanks for your help.

i bet it's the fuel filter too. had the same thing happen to mine, it's a 2012, and replacing the filter fixed it. it would do fine until it got hot then it would sputter and backfire at higher rpm's, when it cooled down it ran fine.

Hey.

You CANNOT put that oil filter in backwards. 15412-kea-003 is the part number. Its the same filter for the Rubicon. You CANNOT screw that up. Just make sure to put the washer on against the spring to prevent the spring from getting into the filter.

What I will tell you is this. Last year Bear Claw Tours had 7 Honda TRX420 Autos fail on him after the unit got hot. I checked everything and scratched my head. Throttle was crap and ran like a bag. I found that ALL SEVEN units ran like crap because the fuel filter inside the fuel pump was PACKED full if dirt. It looked like a used tea bag. After I changed them out. They all ran great. Take a look and see what it looks like.
