I think my quad is a TRX250x manufactured in 1998

In trying to buy a service manual it seems that such a machine does not exist (manuals for the 250x only going up to 1992).

I cannot read the VIN as an electric winch has been bolted through the engraved plate!!

I have looked at the manual for the '250 Recon' and it looks really similar.

Anyone got any ideas which manual to get?

here is another attempt at the picture

There is a frame sticker on a bar below the seat that says TRX 250X
There is also a manufacturer's frame sticker on a bar behind the front offside wheel that says "Honda of America TRX 250 1998"
The original Honda Service booklet says it is a TRX 250 x
I bought it (as a brand new machine) in 1999

It has electric start and a 229cc engine

The only manual options I have been able to find are TRX250X from 87-92 and TRX250 Recon 97-07

Anyone got any ideas what might be going on?

I'm not seeing a picture, either. I'm pretty sure they haven't make the 250X sport quad since 1992. They did make a '98 Recon. Does the ATV have cargo racks?

All Honda ATVs are Fourtrax. TRX stands for Fourtrax. TRX250 Recon would be a Fourtrax 250 Recon.

Is this ATV a US model or a Canadian or UK model?

It was purchased in the UK, but it does say "Honda of America" and "Made in USA" on one of the frame stickers.

I don't know how else to tell what model it is.

This manual shows the Recon and my machine appears to be identical except for a black rubber wheel arch over the rear wheels
