I started her out when she was 7 on a ltz50 and then moved her up to a raptor 80 now I want 2 get her a 250x or a 300ex. I just can't decide which 1. she is 12 now and pulls out good on my 400ex. but its a little big 4 her. hope some one can set me the right way.

yeah thats what I'm worried about. Its hard to find them stock everyone pipes them. I wonder If the 250x is just as fast as a 300ex? I still see alot of stock ones.

Well it will depend all on your daughters age and riding abilities. the 250X Im assuming your speaking about the 2009 and up are sport clutch quads you can use them like a foot shift or you can use the lever on the bars like a clutch. It's a great learning quad for someone who hasn't ridden one with a clutch. The 300EX is a total clutch and it may be a bit much for your daughter or any intermediant rider just coming off of an 80. but in rebuttle to 300's statement the 300EX with a 330 kit will not keep up with a 400ex. The earlier year 87-91 250X indeed had a kick start and a clutch but the 250EX and new 250X have a sport clutch. They were an entry level quad and were actually constructed from the Recon, they just changed the plastics. The 250EX is an awesome machine and really fun to ride. I hope this helps? Good Luck and welcome to the forums.

if she is just coming off an 80 definatly a 250ex the 300 might be a little big and will only be a manual clutch. Also you could look into the other 250s on the market if you dont have to buy honda

i don't know crap about the sport quads..but..i'll say this..what ever you decide to get..keep in mind..she'll out grow it..then want something bigger..and faster...sooo..at least think about this now....before you buy something now.and 2 or 3 years down the road..she'll want something bigger and faster...sooo..keep this in mind...as for the sport quads..i have seen and road the 300ex's..they are some pretty decent bikes..if you can teach her to use a clutch shifting bike..this would suit her for some time...as long as it's stock..and not a high ball'n bike !..lol...she should ride this for quite some time before she out grows it.

Don't waste your money on the Honda 250. Just get a 300ex it's a way better quad and they are easy to learn the clutch. My son learned to use a clutch when he was 6. So a 12 yr old girl would have no problem. Plus there isn't much difference in size. That new 08 is a good price for a brand new quad.

And TRX fiveO u said a built 300ex won't keep up with 400ex's . Well your WRONG! He holeshots 400's all the time wether there Suzuki's or Honda's. In fact he's Holeshot plenty of 450's to. A built 300 produces more ft lbs of toque then a piped 400ex. His dyno runs show that.

If you read back into some of 300ex powered by monster's threads you will see why I made that statement.... I have raced quite a few 300's stock and built with my 250X and the only time they have caught me was when I ran out of gears these little 250s are extremely tourqey and with the right mods pretty darn fast. We all like Jon but sometimes he can be far fetched.. lol you just have to read some of his post to understand. To make it clear though I do not doubt the capabilities of the 300 they are another fine example of Honda. Alot depends on the rider too.

the only thing i have against the old 250x model for a 12 year old is the kick start. i only weigh about 115 pounds its kinda hard for me kick start these bikes sometimes. but other than that they're a great bike. the manual clutch shouldn't be a problem either, if my mom can do it anyone can lol. i don't think she will have a problem with the 300ex if she can take off and ride the 400. the 300 is a lot smaller than the 400. i went from a 110 up to the 300ex and never had a problem and like i said, Im a pretty small guy.

Understand Ya! I just like the 300ex for a younger rider because they are plenty powerfull and are a tough quad and there are plenty of mods for them to make them faster when they are ready for it. And 3 grand for a new 300 is a steal.
