Harbor freight has pretty good prices on them not sure who actually makes them. I have an old Lincoln stick welder and it can be a pain to use for a novice like myself but it does get the job done.

Many, many moons ago I bought Lincoln's best 110 mig, I think it's an SP175. While it doesn't recommend it, I've welded 3/16 steel to 3/8 steel on my hot rod chassis and never had a problem (i.e. break or crack). I use Ar/CO2 gas with it, and upgraded the wire and sheath right after I bought it to handle bigger wire (I think it's .030). It probably helps I learned to weld on an AC/DC 220 buzz box. I sold the buzz box!
