So as the title states im trying to find something newer/better for my wife to ride. We do a bit of road riding to our off road destination. Currently she has a 96 300 king quad. Ya know the one with the 3 speed transfer case and all the levers on the gas tank haha. Anyway she has problems keeping up with us on the hills and the road. Was curious how say the 250 recon or trx300 fourtrax does? Or something similar although she doesnt like my old trx350a haha does the rancher do ok power wise where it won't be to much for her?

I rode my 300 bayou with a 300 kingquad when I was a kid. Speed wise we were always on each other's tails. A 300 fourtrax is not gonna keep up with big bore quads on long straight hills. What are you riding?

I have an 86 trx350a. She is no where close to keep up with me

She also says she doesnt like mine but says it steers better then hers on the dirt. Idk honestly. Ive thought a rancher 350 would be a good ride for her but no real first hand experience

I'd go for honda that she can take out of 4x4, OR get her a 2 wheel drive 300 ..... I'd think y'all would be happy.... With you riding a trx350... ? She'll have NO problem keeping up, you might even see her pass you every now and again.... Lol! When i had mine, my buds... Would dust me on speed, they were on 4x4 fourtrax 300s., the thing is 2wd 300s are rare, at least they are here.

I know my 350 will run 44 or 45 lol. But im on 27s. So a 300 would be a good all around riding quad for her? She keeps saying she wants an automatic but i dont want to switch to one yet. I think she'll be fine with one that has a lil more haha

That's what i have, I've got, and NO complaints. A few others here run them as well, they make all the deference when in two wheel drive!

Man why is the price so ridiculously high on those 300s.. Even the 2wd within 150 miles of me is over 1500 bucks.

My wife has two 300's , one is 4wd with a 4x2 kickout , her spare is a 300 2wd , she really prefers to ride the 2wd than the 4wd , it is much easier to steer and control , once she puts it in 4wd she never takes it out any way

Oh , might mention to you , if you are looking at a 300 4wd and have the 4x2 kickout in the plans , stay about 93 or the kick out will cost in the $550 range as a stock 4x2 kickout has to be modified to work on a 1st gen 300

Well first things first i have to sell the king quad before i can afford anything else. Tight budget you could say. Between a house and 3 kids hard to have much extra money.
