Hi, my neighbor brought me a 1994 300 that he has been unable to get running for over a year. First off I have very limited experience working on motorcycles, and I suck at internet stuff so be gentle with me. I got the engine to turn over but i cant get an juice to the spark plug. What should i check next. I know this is simple stuff, but i would appreciate any help. Thanks

simple , the kill switch in the off position , spark plug boot to wire connection or a blown fuse --------- I would give it a 90% chance it is the CDI , but could be the coil , stator , pick up/ trigger , bad wiring or connection , the test for a CDI is : if every other test is ok then the CDI is bad , simple , aaaaa !

I'm hoping this goes to the correct place.... the fuses are all good, and the kill switch is in the On position. I will check the other possibilities. What is the CDI? Thanks for your help.

Lightly tap on the CDI while cranking and see if you get spark. There isn't really much of a test for a cdi other than that. Check all the basics first though.

Get yourself a copy of the factory service manual HERE. There is a complete section devoted to ignition diagnosis in there + tons of other relevant info. You'll save a lot of time and money fixing that bike, armed with the FSM & a multimeter. Never guess at it... or let others guess for you... when you can learn exactly what you need to fix, in just a couple hours!

Cool! Thanks for all your help. I talked to my auto mechanic, and he recommended I take it to an atv mechanic. Lol. He's probably right, but I'm going to tinker a bit more.
