I have been trying to figure out what the valve adjustments are for my 2002 400ex bore to 426. I just bought it and did a rebuild and wanted to see if someone could help me with the adjustment specs. I can’t fine a manual either. Also does anyone know if the camshaft has a little bit of free play side to side between the dowel pin holders. If anyone knows anything help would be greatly appreciated.

Cam shaft side to side play... Yes, that is correct, it is called and commenly known as 'end float'. However, there is a limit... How much 'play' are you experiencing?

As for valve adjustment, why should it change just because you have a marginally bigger bore? Only a major cam degree should determine valve adjustment. Unless of course your speaking of big Ci increase, which you aren't..!

Set to stock, adjust gradually to suit your needs. It's common sense really
