OK so I have finally paid off my lawyer fees and some other things, and I have some left over money. This being said, I am going to upgrade my TRX400 in whatever ways I possibly can. Looking for more power, better tires, better accessories (idk), new skid plates, pretty much everything. What I basically want to know is, what should I do to my TRX400? Im looking mostly towards power/speed increases but if you have any other useful mods that you think I might want, please go ahead and inform me. Please note, my current TRX is completely STOCK

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Exhaust, Intake, jetting. That will give you a good power gain.

Maxxis Razr2, Hands down the best tire I have ever used.

What kind of budget are we talking?

On my 400ex, Ive got the Full Yoshi RS-3 system, Uni Filter, 168 main, perforated airbox lid 6 - 1/2 in holes drilled. Ive got a moose racing skid plate, and I just bought some ITP Holeshots for $64 /tire on motosport. Get some Pro Taper Pillow Top grips too. Might wanna throw in some Pro Taper bars as well. I might would get the Stage 2 Hot cam but I dont have the money....You could very well go to a High Compression piston too! Just some starters, sure some more.....I wouldnt get a big bore till you fry the motor.....The bigger the bore, the more heat...BAD:icon_frown:

Are you looking to build the motor?? Or simple things? Trail riding?
A little bit of both. I do mostly trail riding but I like to open her up every once in a while and would enjoy any extra power either low-range or high-range

start simple..change your sprocket sizes..if you want hole shot power..lower the rear sprocket tooth size..if you want top end power..get a rear sprocket with more teeth..you can also get a larger front tooth sprocket..as this will increase your top end speed, all depends on which way you want to go..top end..or hole shot ?.

Well considering the 400's capabilities the top end would be more important to increase. So far I have never experienced any trouble at all from the hole shot, one thing the 400 really does a good job of

Front sprockets are cheaper and one tooth difference on the front sprocket is equal to about 3 teeth on the rear sprocket. A bigger rear sprocket or a smaller from sprocket will give you more low end power, but you will loose some of your top speed. A bigger front sprocket or a smaller rear sprocket will give you more top speed, but you will loose some power on the bottom end. I believe that's how it works, someone correct me if I'm wrong. It's been years. LOL.

just changed the rear sprocket on my 86 honda 250 rebel..it lowered the hole shot..but the top end went way up..went from a 32 tooth to a 34 tooth..yeah..2 more teeth gave me about 15 more mph...soo..more teeth on back..low hole shot..higher top end..you can put more teeth on the back..and also go bigger on the front..and you can gain top end and hole shot..you just can't go alot on the front if you go up in the rear.

Do not get a Lex pipe, I have seen 4 of those pipes in person and 3 of them were losing rivets.

I was j/k when I said just build a nationals quad, That is a quad that is capable of racing on the National level. It takes lots of upgrades...

If your budget is around $1000, I'd drop a new exhaust in, I was thinking about selling my Yoshi stuff and putting in an LRD pipe (looks and sound). But right now, I dont have time to do anything else with it. So like an LRD, Pro Circuit T-4, HMF, Yoshimura, Supertrapp, There all very nice exhausts. The exhaust will probably be $500 or so for a full system. After that, you may wish to put in a Stage 1 or Stage 2 Hot Cam. They are $200. I'd also consider buying a K&n Filter and Power lid, dont forget to jet the carb!! You'd probably use around a 170 with the K & N Power lid and air filter, but dont take my word for it...
