Hi,
I just joined to get advise on misc things/parts/repairs for my 88 Fourtrax 300. It’s beat up on outside but runs like a champ!
I posted this on the welcome page too so sorry if I’m repeating myself but thought my question might get answered here first...

My first question is... can you mount a universal atv/dirt bike muffler to the exhaust pipe? When I google universal atv mufflers, the ones that go on bikes come up. The quad specific ones are 3x as much! We had “rigged” up a muffler and spark arrestor about 5 years ago and it finally fell apart and Can’t find the same piece now. Was thinking I could try to do it again but for under a 100.00, I would rather just clamp on a universal one. I did already unbolt, clean up and paint exhaust pipe.
Any other tricks other than to spend 200.00?
I’m also looking for some replacement plastics that don’t cost arm and leg. Auto part Rust Pipe Suspension part Suspension

Thanks!!
Thanks!

Wow , you got the most out of that muffler . you can use a 92 muffler on your 88 , it has a different bend where it comes out of the head but will bolt up , the 88 has a u-shaped pipe where the 92 was straighter ----Caltric sells a new complete muffler and exhaust pipe , I have put on on one of my 300 and although it is lighter metal at $150 it is much better of a price than $560 for a 92 OE muffler which is available from Honda , the 88 is not longer available from Honda

The one thing I don’t like about aftermarket pipes on the TRX300 is that you lose the heat shield. That pipe gets hot and will deform the side cover. But you can wrap it with some heat tape

Note there are differences in the fenders which will require slight mods to fit yours. I don’t know what the cutoff for model years. You can check the part numbers on my links below

well their parts listing has a price but maybe they don’t have one—worth a try
I just checked partzilla on that part number, R109 is red, and they don't show to have them, but rocky mountain atv shows price and can ship ?, which tells me they can get their hands on a red front fender ?..hmmm...lol. if rocky mountain atv shows price and can ship ?, then they normally can get it !, if not ?, then the site will say '' not shipping '' !.
