I was told before that 11 inch tyres could go on a 12 inch rim but other way like a 13 inch tyre couln fit on a 12 inch rim??

Another thing could i just take his 4 rims and tyres and swap out my tyres and rims? Full straight swap??

tires and wheels have to be of teh same diameter, a 11 inch wheel (OD of wheel) will ONLY work witha tire with an 11 inch wheel design for it
a 12 inch will be too large and will never seal

YOU can hoever add wider tires to a standard wheel, but there is NO way to add tires of a different wheel size to a wheel that is NOT same design sized for tire

when you look at the tire side wall reading, say
25-10-12
the first number means HOW tall the tire is(25 inches) second number, is fo how WIDE the tire is(10 inches wide) and last number is the size wheel you need for the tire to work!

YOU can however many times install say 12-8-12 or even a 25-12-12, on a standard 12 inch tall wheel
MOST 12 inch tall wheels have a 7 to a 7.6 inch WIDE wheel, that will HOLD many different sized tires! be them tire TALLER or WIDER< but they all HAVE to have the same wheel size(third number on the tire size)

NEXT and NOT to confuse you even more if you are

BUT all 12 inch wheels do NOT have the same back spacing and or lug pattern, even if there 4 holes in wheel, doesn;'t mean they will work or fit on any 4 lug hub!

you have to have the correct back spacing/off set as well as correct bolt spacing

I hope this explains and help you, if not ask more questions

I will try again to help better

NOW to answer to your question,it is simple, NO 11 inch dia tire will WORK on any 12 inch DIA wheel! its physically Impossible! or about so
! they need to be the same sized whee dia to fit!

and also, there is NO way you have 25-8-12 wheels, wheels only have TWO numbers, OD and width!
the number you listed I gather is the SIZE of the tire you have ON your wheels
and the wheel is a 12 inch OD< and NOT sure on width, you would have to measure that when the tire is OFF the wheel!
