I’m looking at buying a Lexx performance exhaust. I already have a UNI air filter. So if I get this exhaust I’ll have to jet it. About what jetting should I go with if I have a lexx exhaust and a uni air filter? Thanks in advance!

The Uni filter alone shouldn't change your jetting/tuning
I opened my air box last week to find my own filter had fallen apart inside, nothing but the wire mesh screen was left!!
Put a Uni in it and still can't tell the difference

Now a muffler on the other hand.....
Many many years ago I worked in a bike shop that did a lot of performance work
Basic rule as I recall was when ya open the exhaust with a free flowing muffler increase your idle and main one size and raise the pin a notch
That should get ya close enough to start

Also we used to get performance jetting kits that matched the velocity stacks and pipes we used to install but I can't recall who made them
Seems like the manufacturer of the muffler had a list of what kits went with what pipes
Might call them to see if they know what jets their pipe will need
Otherwise you end up with a nice collection of misc jets while ya figure it out
I'll check my toolbox tomorrow and see if I still have one of those boxes with the company name on it
I still use the boxes to carry spare plugs for my Triumph in the saddle bags. ?
Those 4cyl kits came in really nice plastic boxes. ??

42 pilot jet. Mixture around 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 and a 155-165 main jet. That will get you real close. Your elevation is dang near the exact same as mine.

Thank ya man! I’ll definitely get around to doing it. Or maybe take it and have it done. I really don’t feel like messing with it. But I might possibly do it. Do you recommend the dynojet kit?

No. Dynojet kits are junk. They tell you there is no need to ever change the pilot jet. Just put mixture at 3 turns. That information is 100% wrong. They obveously dont care if it takes 10 attempts to start the quad as long as it makes the most power. I on the other hand like my quad to fire up first try everytime. My .02

I have purchased all mine individually. But there are kits available out there i believe. If i remember correctly the kits come with stainless steel allen head bowls screws.

No worries! Everyone was new to this at one point. You will want to buy a carb rebuild kit for a earlier model 400ex. 99-04. That will give you 2 things you need. An adjustable needle and a flat tip mixture screw to replace the D shaped one on your quad now mostlikely. Then you want to get a 42 pilot jet to make it start easier expecially in the winter months. That 42 pilot is a god send. Then you change the main jet. When you change the pilot jet the whole carb bowl has to be removed so use the new gasket in the rebuild kit while your at it. The main jets can be changed through the 17mm cap on the bottom of the bowl. When you install the mixture screw after fighting to get the old one out im sure if its still the stock one. Put the flat tip one in all the way till it lightly seats then turn it out 2 1/4 turns from there. You may have to go to 2 1/2 but that should be real close.

The stock needle will have one slot. The one in the carb rebuild kit will have 5 slots. For a pipe and filter i would drop the clip one slot. The needle comes out the top of the carb. Thats under the top cover and slides down into the round slide in the carb. A magnetic tip screw driver helps alot here because the 2 tiny screws down in the slide have to be removed and they will fall and never be found without one. I have done it without in a pinch but it requires alot more finesse.
