Hi all

First post, please be gentle...

I am posting for a mate who owns a TRX400FA. The bike is an Australian model and as such, it has the speedo/odometer setup for metric units (ie km/h, kms...).

The display is faulty and he wants it either repaired or to have it replaced. The faulty display is distorted so that none of the display is legible. Has anyone seen this fault before?

I have asked him to check the plug connection to the display to ensure that it hasn’t worked loose or has any corrosion etc. I have also asked him to look for any part number to confirm if it is the same part as the US models (37200-HN7-003) - not sure if this will plug and play with the Aussie bikes?

Does anybody know if the meters can be configured for metric or imperial units by the user? If so, how is this done?

As an alternative, I have seen some aftermarket meters - such as Trail Tech - that can be retrofitted. Anyone tried one of these before? Are they simple enough to install?

Thanks in advance.

Ok, so have removed existing display and confirmed part no:

37200-HN7-650

It is also marked “km” which I guess indicates metric/kilometres...

I have done a search on the net and could not find this part no, the closest match was 37200-HN7-651 which I presume is the newer replacement PN for this unit...

No obvious defects with plug or housing so next step will be to open up the display and determine if anything obvious is fried or defective...

Bad news is that the new PN is showing as currently unavailable, so unsure if it will be manufactured again ?

If anyone else can help out here, would be great to hear from you.

TIA
