I looked at carb end and sheathing is not attached. Ordered replacement cable with knob. Any advice? I can grab wire and pull out about an inch at carb but it goes right back in. 2006 model es

Thanks. I'll put that as a top priority. Been trying to start by holding choke knob out but no start. Had spark so I checked for fuel at carb. No flow. Will flush out tank and refill with fresh eth-free gas. Dont know how I was smelling gas if no fuel but that's my bad for not testing for fuel flow

Your entire carb probably needs a rebuild from the starter valve to primer pump.

You could be getting fuel in the bowl and smelling it from the vents, but no spray into carb throat.

Open the drain and see if you get steady flow that will show fuel in the bowl.

Put fuel in tank just to check for flow NONE, so I pulled tank and removed fuel valve. Had the brass tube with glob of black on end from inside of tank. Couldn't blow air through valve after i cleaned off gunk. Guessing valve internals are muck as well. Ordered a new one. Seems like we changed carb about 2 years ago. Started with rebuild and gave up. If i order a new carb will it come with new enrichment valve? Recommend vendor?

New from honda OEM carb is $166. I think the other OEM carb is in a cabinet in my garage in plastic bag. I think the one on my rancher may have been an after market so I dont want to rebuild it. My wife says go with honda. Certainly faster and easier. Is there any way to determine whether carb I have is OEM

So the only issue is your choke knob won't stay out when you pull it?

There's a round spring on the rubber under the knob. Pull that spring off the rubber, and there's a knurled plastic knob under the rubber. Turn it clockwise to tighten it up until the knob stays up, then put the spring back on to hold the rubber in place.

I have new carb and it seems to have a lot of parts and hoses. Here's pics from all 4 sides. KEIHIN VE94E. Can you tell if it has starter valve?

yep, choke is there, minus the choke cable. front/forward plastic nut, 14mm, this is your choke valve.

The white hard plastic part shown on pic was missing when I removed fuel valve. Is it a strainer. Does it go over the brass tube inside the tank?
yep, slide the strainer over the brass tube, then install up into/or down..depending on how your tank is laying/sitting ?. then bolt it to the tank. make sure you got the old strainer out of the tank, they sometimes stay in there when you pull the petcock.

and now you two are wondering how I know they are not oem carbs huh ?..lol. really simple: oem carbs for the early-mid trx350 ranchers DO NOT HAVE THE UPWARD FACING BRASS FUEL INLET !!. don't believe me ?, look the carb up on partzilla, scroll in, notice that the fuel inlet ( brass part ) is facing forward ?..thats how I know !..lol.
