300 2wd , I got the swing arm off and cleaned up , when I took the bolt out which holds the diff to the swing arm water came out , so I checked the diff oil and no water in it , the pinion seal did it's job , good thing I got to it when I did , when I got the swing arm off I found that the bearing on one side totally failed and the balls got pushed thru the steel plate and that was how the water got into the swing arm's drive shaft tube , also the u-joint was hitting the bottom of the swing arm and dented it up ( you can see it in the pic ) , I was able to beat that back in shape the u-joint also sticks so it is bad , so I need a u-joint , swing arm bearings , seals and plates , a pinion seal while I am in there and a new to me used u-joint

finally got some time to work on the bike , cut the races out with a torch and installed new bearings and seals , put some 3M5200 under the grease retainer plates , I am thinking of throwing in a 85-87 TRX250A drive shaft and u-joint ( the one with the spring on the shaft ) , I need to replace the u-joint as it binds up , you can see in the pic they are made different but are the same , I think this will workout

Yep, should have gotten to that one sooner Mac , it was almost a new swing arm or some welding and grinding -------------- this 300 use to be my wife's 2wd and she upgraded last Christmas to 4wd , only relatives and friends ride this one , a buddy told me it was making a clanging noise and my first fear was the rear end --------I got the swing arm in , went with the 250 drive shaft , wonder how that is going to work out , I have like 6 more of them if it works , , one problem with the 250 drive shaft is you can't pull the drive shaft out the swing arm while it is bolted to the bike , so if it don't work then it is back off with the swing arm , all I have to do is bolt up the rear end , but I ain't going to do it today , got to start boiling crayfish i

Oh that second pic is a 300 that went up for sale local , old man that passed , it was kept in a climate controlled garage it's whole life , it was pristine , they wanted $2,900 for a week , then dropped it to $2,500 and it sold in a day , I would have given $2,500 for it , if I wold have had the chance
