When I bought it it was pinging.. I rode it and it sounded like it threw a chain (though its shaft driven) then rolled to a stop and wont start! Is it cheaper to have it worked on than buying a new engine for $700?

Can you give us more details? When you say won’t start does it turn over at all or is the motor jammed up? Have you checked the cam timing since this happened?

I’ll delete your other post so we don’t get mixed up and multiple replies, it causes confusion sometimes.

Pull the spark plug.
Can you manually rotate the engine? Slowly. Yes?

Crunching? Dropped valve

No crunching?

Pull the valve adjustment covers to see if can see both valves. Do they move when you rotate the engine? No?

Cam chain
