Hey folks,
I am brand new to this forum, and to ATV's in general. Last year I traded a ShifterKart for a 2007 TRX 250 EX. It is not what I really wanted, but figured I could trade or sell it later, much easier than the Kart. So my question is, is it possible to convert it to 4x4? In looking at the machine, it doesn't seem feasible, but just thought I'd double check in case there is something out there I don't know about. Thanks, Colby

It's not impossible but it would require lots of cash and fab work.

No, I don't think so. I've never seen a kit for any kind to convert them to a 4X4.

too bad you didn't get the honda trx 300 fourtrax two wheel drive model..some of those..you can drop a 4 wheel drive engine in them..with changing a few things..it converts right over to 4x4..oh well..lol.

lol..day late..dollar short..lmfao..yeah..with the 2 wheel drive models..some are already set up for 4 wheel drive..just change the spindles from the front..drop in some spindles from a 4 wheel drive front in..i'm pretty sure the motor mounts are the same..i've never converted a 2 wheel drive to a 4 wheel drive..but..after working alot on both models...seems like it's not very hard..about the only thing i'm not sure about..is the engine out put shaft being in line with the rear swing arm..and room for the front diff...has anyone ever tried to swap these 2 wheel drive model engines out for a 4 wheel drive in a honda trx 300 ?

I've never done it myself, but I have heard of people doing it. I think you might have to do a little fab work where the front diff bolts on or the transfer case bolts up, but I think the engine and everything else will bolt up right. I have seen people put 2wd engines on 4wd frames. You can actually split the cases and put the left side of the 4wd case on a 2wd engine to make it 4wd, but it's a lot of work splitting the cases. Don't forget, you have to have a transfer case, also.

I've never done it myself, but I have heard of people doing it. yeah helmut...but i was just talking about taking a 4 wheel drive engine..and droping it in a 2 wheel drive frame..it still will need some fab work for the front diff..prob not much..but..if it will bolt right up as far as the rear swing arm and such..then it's all about changing and fabing the front..mostly the front diff will need room..and a way yo bolt up..that..and swaping out the front spindles..the 2 wheel drive and the 4 wheel drive use different kinds..about the same as highth and all..it's the center part for the axle that has to go through..thats why it has to be from a 4 wheel drive bike..if ya can get your hands on a 4x4 engine...front spindles...and fab some front diff mounting brackets..it might just work out..who knows..lol..i'm glad i got a 4x4 already..lol
