TRX 90 no spark HELP please

I have tried the old and new CDI

I have tried the old and new coil

A new stator and pickup coil

A new wiring harness

A couple new plugs

switches---- are unhooked at the wiring harness...

added a couple new grounds

The neutral switch & 4th gear switch has been disconnected.

Do FLYWHEELs go bad?? I've tried 2. both flywheels give good power about 193v and 8.86v for the pick up coil. Both flywheels have no magnetic attraction on the pickup coil trigger. They won't pull a paper clip. Is this normal?

No voltage out of the CDI.

Any suggestions????????

Still no spark....

Any help would be great..... Chuck

What year is it?

Are all ignition parts and switches OEM Honda? Every last one of them?

The neutral light switch must be plugged in and functional. The wiring harness must be in good condition with no hacks or splices... bone stock.

It looks like the pulse generator is measuring fine. The flywheel trigger puck should not be magnetic so thats fine too.

Are you measuring 193 volts from the exciter coil wire, or is that alternator winding voltage?

What does the voltage at the primary wire on the ignition coil measure with everything plugged in, including the switches?

1996

I have tried neutral switch connected and disconnected and same results.

193v is from the exciter coil. This year TRX90 doesn't have a 12v winding on the stator.

Coming out of the CDI 58.8 mv. I think there should be around 600v coming out of the CDI going to the coil

Are all of the ignition parts and switches OEM Honda parts? If not, replace them with Honda parts. China knockoffs do not work so there is no point in working on it while china parts are on it.

The TRX90 has an AC CDI ignition system.

The following are must-haves:

1) The neutral switch Lg/R wire must provide continuity to ground when the transmission is in neutral and provide no continuity to ground while in any other gear.

2) The neutral switch MUST be connected properly for the ignition system to work.

3) The high gear switch Pink wire must provide continuity to ground when the transmission is in 4th gear. And provide no continuity while the trans is in any other gear. It must be connected properly.

4) Both, the ignition switch and the kill switch (Bl/W and Green) wires must provide continuity to ground while in the "OFF" position. Both must provide no continuity while in the "RUN" position. Test them separately to make sure they both work correctly and make sure those wire color connections to the main harness are correct.

5) Verify that the Green wire at the CDI connector plug on the harness side, at the ignition switch connectors, at the engine stop switch connectors and at the ignition coil connectors provides frame grounds for all. Remove and clean the Green wire terminal and shine up the metal where that ground wire attaches (it is near the CDI I think?) to insure there is a good ground.

If you are certain that all ignition components and switches are OEM, the attachments below may help ya sort through some of the diagnosis steps. Keep us updated if you can!

Great news quad is working. TY for all the advice.

1,2,3 The 4th gear and neutral switch do not have to be connected. This only changes the map of the spark. You get spark if they are connected or not. It just might not be the correct type of spark for how the quad is operating.

4 agree total with you about the switches. They were not this issue for this case.

The issue was the original CDI went bad. Bought the $31 CDI (China) from DBelectric and it did not work. Bought the $50 CDI (dze.com.ar) from DBelectric and the quad fired right up. IDK how to say this but the $50 CDI just feels like better quality. Connections, housing etc. FYI if you call DBelectric and ask them what the differences are between the CDI's they sell. Well they are clueless/useless and only are willing to place a new order for you. They can't/wont answer any technical specs about the different units they sell.

Current measurements are 193V and 8.86v and now 590V out of the new $50 CDI.

Chuck.
