hey guys just curious as to what you all would recommend for a 08 400ex for an after market air filter i have been look at the k&n and the uni filter but i would like some input on what you guys prefer to use

Welcome to the forums. Since I don't have a 400EX, I can't really help you with your question, but someone will be around shortly that can help you. We have quite a few guys on here with the 400EX.

k&n im assuming the uni is a foam filter, the k&n in my opinion flows better i run a k&n on mine, not one complaint

i have the K&n powerlid and the filter set up on my 05 400ex and i would never go back, no complaints and good power increase will need to rejet though

True K&N flows more air but in turn in also lets more through. Depending on what kind of riding you are doing I would go with UNI. If yu race and are on conditioned tracks where there is less dust, K&N is great.

I run a uni filter just because of the conditions I ride in. I ride in a real dusty area. the k&n flows better but it also lets more dirt by. I would rather have my motor breathing clean air. than have that half of horsepower. just my 2 cents.

thanks guys i usually ride on dusty trails or at the snow shoe rails to trails in pa and its all coal dust there so i think the uni would prob be my best bet thanks for all you input

No, it is a small enough difference that you won't have to rejet.

NoToil is another good brand. I have a Uni and a NoToil, I switch back and forth.

with the uni filter should i only use the uni filter oil or can i use the PJ1 foam filter treatment PJ1 Foam Filter Treatment (Aerosol) my local honda dealer said to use the pj1 cleaner and oil so let me know what you think

I have 2 filters and usually switch out in a dusty condition. Its nice to have spare!
