hows the air filter ?..are you sureeeee you got all the trash out of the idle jet ??..it doesn't take much to stop the idle jet up.
still sounds like your idle jet is stoped up..take it back apart..pull all the jets out..everything..there is a tiny 0-ring in the air/fuel mixture screw jet needle..you didn't loose it..or forget it was in there did you ?..and stack two in there ?..after it's all apart..i always use gum out carb spray cleaner..MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE ANY AND ALL RUBBER O-RINGS..OR ANYTHING THAT IS RUBBER..OR THE GUM OUT WILL DISOLVE THEM !.
ok ill double check it but first before i tear it apart i was just thinking of taking a little slack out of the throttle cable to at least get it to idle then maybe adjust the pilot screw more lean since its backfiring on decelerating let me know what u think about those steps
do what ever it takes to get it to idle..then..as its running..this is when you can fine tune your air/fuel mixture screw..most start out at 2 1/2 turns..but..it's best to get the bike to run..and then fine tune it that way.
ok so here is what happened i got it to idle the throttle stop seems very touchy its ether to high or stalls so i get it to idle and i try setting the pilot screw to 2 1/4 turns out after seating it and i get no change in the rpms i can screw it all the way out or in and no change still misses im getting to my wits end with this carb ive taken it all apart twice to make sure it was as clean as possible im not sure what im doing wrong ive never had this much trouble do you have any other suggestions? is there something im missing? is it would a bad float needle cause this even tho it still has spring to it and the rubber tip seems fine no nics in it or anything
on the main throat needle ..where do you have the c-clip ??..which groove ?..should be in the middle groove...also..you didnt loose the tiny washer that goes on that needle did you ?..should have a tiny washer..then the c-clip.
i didnt remove the main throat needle from its case i only pulled it out to clean the jet
ok..lets back up a bit..did you do a carb rebuild ?..or just a cleaning ??..if you done a cleaning..then your main needle jet seat could be worn...if it is..this will allow more fuel to be sucked into the engine..no matter where you set the idle..or anything else for that matter. now..if you rebuilt the carb from scratch...then something isn't right with either the jets..or carb itself...when the main throat needle seat wears..this is when you adjust the fuel flow by lowering the needle with the c-clip..not to mention..it makes it run rich...if you raise the c-clip..it makes the motor run lean..just food for thought.
is it possible that can stick? should i take it apart to clean it better?
yes..it can stick..or be worn like i said..that or the needle seat in the bottom of the carb as your looking down into it.
ok thanks that makes sense i only cleaned it not rebuilt im still a young mechanic so i appreciate the help and patients do you know a site where i can get a rebuild kit?
you can purchase a carb rebuild kit just about anywhere they sell motor cycle parts or atv's. bikebandit.com, cheapcycleparts.com..or even ebay..if you know of any after market motor cycle shops around you..they may have some too. as for the help...your welcome.
i used a aresal carb cleanerim posative i got all the o-rings out before hand one thing i realized last night when i was working on it the rubber part on the priemer was all crumbled i think i need to rebuild that as well
yes..rebuild that..it will not only cause a fuel leak ( just done one of those )..but it will cause a vaccum leak..in other words..your carb won't draw fuel from your bowl right..lol.

on the air/fuel mixture screw..there is a very tiny o-ring that rest in the bottom of that opening..if you left it in there..i'm sure your carb cleaner distroyed it..lol.
