I was at the Honda Dealer today to pick up some engine oil and asked for some tranny oil for my 2009 trx 450er and the parts guy got the honda tranny oil but told me to hang on he wanted to ask the service adviser a question about it .When he got back he said the service adviser and the mechanic both said i can use 10w-40 engine oil in the tranny.Does this sound right to anyone?

According to the service manual, that's what you're supposed to use.

I know many people that use the red bottle tranny oil. When i switched to it, i noticed it even shifted smoother. Most other 450's have one oil compartment, but with the two on the hondas, you can use the tranny oil. If you use the regular 10-40, you have to make sure it is formulated for wet clutch systems otherwise it will slip.
