I'm thinking when Helmut signs on he can help you out. He is really good at this kind of stuff.

I'm not really sure what to tell you on that. I've never really seen a transmission knock before, other than once I saw a nut back off that holds the clutch on and it sort of made a knocking noise, but there was quiet a bit of vibration when that happened. You're probably just going to have to tear in down and visually inspect for the problem. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

i have noticed the platic cover around the digital dash shaking more than normal i wasnt worried about it until i got noise fixed but that may go hand in hand. how much trouble is that nut because i have done some work splitting the cases on others but never nothing this new. im not a mechanic but not afraid to tear it down just like to know what to expect before doing it. im sure its not the same as the xr100 dirtbke and ktm 50 i have split before to fix tranny problems.

You won't have to split the case to get to the clutch. You just have to remove the clutch cover. If you have experience splitting cases on other bikes, it shouldn't be too hard for you. Even though they're newer, and some things will be different, most things are basically the same. I would get a good repair manual before trying it, though. I've never actually been inside the transmission on the 500, but I have the 450 and I think their about the same. It was a 450 that the nut came loose on.

Isn't that troubleshooting section for the Rubicon with the Hondamatic tranny? I don't think his is a Rubicon.
