i have a 88 trx 4x4 that 1st gear does not engage. rev,2nd,3rd,4th all work fine , but no 1st. no rattling,banging,tearing or other sounds when in first???? any help would be appreciated.... havent gotten to tear into it yet .. thanks

never seen one just hang on one gear..if it was all of them..i'd say your shift arm..or shift arm wheel is bent..broken..sometimes i've seen where the screw that holds the arm in place back out..causing the shifter to not work..but..in your case..it could be your transmission for first gear...i'd still like to think it is your shifting arm and wheel..either way..your gonna have to tear into it

havent had any luck talking with mecs either, replaced the final drive on the bike about 6 mths ago, drove fine and then just quit,, will keep posting,, sounds like a unique problem.. thanks

your problem isn't hard to fix..takes more time than anything..once you get inside of the case..and get to it..it's really easy to fix
