So I'm new, and you guys are helping me learn something everyday. What would you say are the top 10 (or 5 or 20.....) things to do to a "factory" ATV to boost performance. I have a simple '04 Rancher manual 4X4. Do I really need to mod the bike; I'm a trailrider and not a racer. I'd rather cross a creek than jump a ramp....

Air filter, exhaust, tires and suspension. Basically open the engine up a little allow it to breath and then all depending on what type of riding aggressive tires and a suspension lift.

I prefer to jump across the creek!!!! I agree, Intake, exhaust and jet accordingly. that will give you nice gains.

LOL, good one Redracer. I've already got the big tires (14" Swamplites) in really good shape; came on the bike when I bought it. No lift but I'm hesitant, do I really want to raise my center of gravity; stability??

I've got a new Uni air filter too.

Can you guys point me in the right direction for exhaust, intake, and jet options? I'd like the best bang for the buck.

For intake, UNI is a good one, I run Notoil. You can modify your airbox lid to take in more air. If you do not know how to jet a carb, it could be a major headache. You don't really need a jet kit. You could always buy individual jets. Exhaust, HMF and FMF are the 2 I would lean towards.
