Mornin. If this isn't in the right section, please feel free to move it.

1991 honda trx300 4x4 aka the blueberry

So i bought this and it was blowing minimal white/blue smoke. I knew i would have to do a top end rebuild on it one day.

I know...i know... another top end rebuild thread. The things ive searched for on here are a little dated, so im going to ask.

Went to my buddys ranch yesterday and well, its really time for a top end rebuild now.

Im mechanically inclined. But ive never done a top end rebuild on a honda before. I know theres always little tricks and tips, so does anyone have a full video on how to do a top end rebuild on one of these? Maybe youtube?

Ive heard that you can ship your head and stuff to companies and they will machine it and all that jazz.

Is there any other processes? Do i really need to do that or can i sleeve it and be done?

Im sure i have more questions but this is a start haha

Glamour shots!

I'd start with a compression test. Depending on those results, you'll likely still need to tear into it and check it out. If the piston and cylinder are within specs, you may just need to hone the cylinder and replace the rings and valve seals. I did the rings and valve seals on an old 350D recently. No more smoke. I have another with even worse compression and smoke that I'll likely need to have sent off for a bore job, but I can't be for certain until I open it up and have a look and take some measurements. Look on youtube for video's. I think it was one on a 300 that I watched to get motivated to do my 350D, as the process is about the same.
