So here is my 2” rearward snorkel set up on the 300fw. NOTE: Instead of trying to seal the factory air box I will be replacing it with 2” in-2” out spa filter. 1) from carb to spa filter with silicone adapter boot and 2” silicone hose. 2) from spa filter to 2” 90* with 2” silicone hose. 3) cut 3” hole in fender, the 3”-2” sinch cog will go in the 3” hole and tighten to the fender, the 2” 90* will thread in the bottom of the sinch cog under the fender. 4) the 2” male-male end of the 2” spa hose conecter will thread in the top of the sinch cog on top side of the fender. 5) heat one end of a peace of 2” black house hold plumbing pvc and apply glue and press it on the male end of the male-female spa hose conecter. 6) cut to the pvc length to the hight you want the snorkel. 7) glue trap basket to the top of the pvc and put the air filter sock over the trap basket. NOTE: the spa hose conecters will allow the option to run snorkel in deep water or take it off when riding in woods and bushes. Or if you need a snorkel at times but just don’t like the looks of snorkels, take it off and just put it on when needed. Hope to put it all on tomorrow.

Carl , you might be setting your self up for a carb re-jetting nightmare that may never get right , carry on = I am curious on where it goes

don't forget about extending the crankcase vent , carb vent , diff vents ( 2 ) , transfer case vent , brake vents ( 3 )

I am aware of that?! Do you think it will have to much air or not enough?! I’m hoping it’s nothing different from running a sealed air box. But I’m thinking I will use a back pressure gage and test the factory air box/filter system. And foam the spa filter to have the same air flow as the factory system. So jetting the carb will be irrelevant. Unless I decide to do any motor and carb mods.

Don't try and re-invent the wheel. Keep the factory airbox and run the snorkel forward through the front fender. Run all vents to top of snorkel. Run crankcase vent into airbox.
it’s not a re-invention lol. And it’s not a forward snorkel. Why try to seal the factory air box when 15$ buys you a sealed filter?! And if you notice the 400ex shock will rub and bump the factory air box. I understand that people follow basic traditions. I’m just not a basic follower. And this is not a hard core boger. It’s a kids bike/yard toy. Sure it’s gonna performe and cross the creek. I’m open to criticism. But I kinda prefer the criticism that is informational. It you have any information or experience in why this will not work. Please share your knowledge.

I have seen people snorkel their bikes and have nothing but trouble after wards , trying to get the jets right because of the change of air flow caused by their choice of pipe size or adaptors and fittings that restrict the air flow like an orifice , I guess it all boils down to , how hard it has to suck air in and have seen where not having the right amount of restriction on the air flow effects them bad ---- show us something , new technologies !

You need an air box on the machine, these engines do not like running without them. They act as an air reserve, when you punch the throttle there is air sitting around the filter “on tap” ready to enter the carburetor. Without the air box it has to draw all the air it needs instantaneously through your snorkel. I’ve seen it plenty over the last 15 years people trying to delete the factory air box and they just never get them to run right without it. Period.
Besides that, people usually put the snorkel up front because if you do a water wheelie or even if you have to climb out of that creek your rear end will be deep in the water and your snorkel will probably be sucking water more than air.
