A 2" lift on a 300 fourtrax makes the front end 3/4" narrower overall. I made my own lift brackets out of 4mm plate and welded them in place of the original mounts. I did make the welded area larger to spread the load better, probably unnecessary but I thought it was better.
Mrbb has made a good point though, get one copied if you can. Save those dollars :)

Yeah very good point , i could get it copied however with the shipping rate that id have to pay to send it back its probably gonna cost me the same ... yeah i heard about spacers coming loose i was totaly gonna put lick tite on .. for sure ! ... 3/4 inch narrower its not that bad as im looking to clear from the exhaust in the back and i know theres lots of room in front as i use same wheels and tires size except in height ... im set on putting on a lift and spacers .. its gonna give it a better look too .. not something im worried about but if it does .. well fine ..

the rear being a solid axle(or guessing your is) it won't make that any more narrow, but will on the front end on the IRS side of things, MAYBE, but again NOT much! LOL

and I again used stainless steel to make my lift brackets, so NO worries of rusting out over time, think I used 1/4 inch too if I recall , factory lift brackets were like 1/8 inch think seems WAY cheesy at the time!

even with Loc tite, you will still have to check every so often,

So i was reading that some people flip their rims around to get a wider stance ... i looked at my older rims and the offset was opposite of what i got now so i figured id give it a shot ... and it worked fine ... the valve stem doesnt rub on anything so i wont need to drill a new hole for it ... i might just be ok with the rims flipped , specially on the rear i read that people had problems with ball joints in front but not a whole lot of problems being reported on the rear ... i rode the bike to be sure i went on the small bumps of snow and ice in front of the garage .. no problems ... im still gonna put on the 2 inch lift ... so far so good

I don't think it will rust away any time soon , very easy to make with a hand held band saw , grinder and a drill press as long as you have one for the pattern ---- I grabbed the wrong pic , it is not primed in that pic , I use the self-ethicing primer , that stuff is great , I have some pieces of metal with only primer on it for a couple of years laying in wet oak leaves and it looks great

I have 25x13 vampires on the rear of mine. The previous owner apparently didn't notice the rubbed until it took some rubber off. They took the heat shield off and that seemed to cure it. You might try that.

It was still pretty close on mine. I ended up lifting it cause I got the lift for free.

My tires measure 25.5 and about 12 wide on the tape.

Mine has stock 10"x8.5 rear wheels. They are 5.5x3

So your 5x2 will be .5 narrower on the outside, and 1 inch more room on the inside.

Beware on the rear lift it does move the tires closer to the foot rest and might rub. Also be careful on the front. Mine put the ball joints in a bad angle and wears them out pretty quick.
